Drunk Driver Hits Sandra Bullock and Jesse James

April 2nd, 2009 | No Comments

A drunk driver in Massachusetts hit Sandra Bullock and her husband Jesse James of “Moster Garage” TV fame head on over the weekend but no one was injured in the accident. Sandra is in Gloucester shooting for her film The Proposal and her husband was accompanying her on the drive back to their hotel in Eastern Point in a black rented SUV. They were being driven to the hotel by Mark Hussey, 54, of Londonberry, NH and the incident happened in front of the Gloucester Laundromat.

A grey Subaru station wagon switched lanes on East Main Street and bumped into the front of the car in which James and Bullock were traveling. Gloucester Police Lt. Jerry Cook said, “They were shaken up, needless to say. But they were fine – he was hugging her. Jess and Sandra were hugging. They said they were fine, they didn’t need medical attention. There were quite a few people snapping pictures of them.”

According to reports, the driver of the Subaru, Lucille P. Gatchell, 64, was given a sobriety test on the spot, and she blew a .20 on the breathalyzer. It was two and half times the legal limit. She was later arrested for driing under influence and for failure to stay in a marked lane. the Gloucester police said Gatchell had no idea who she had hit, and when she told, “she started laughing, she was really giddy.” She was not available for comment later.

Lt. Gerry Cook later said, “It’s unfortunate. But it shows you that no one is immune from drunk drivers, no matter how famous you are.”
