Sandra Bullock: ‘I won’t do musicals’

Actress Sandra Bullock has insisted that she will never star in a musical. The Proposal actress told Harper’s Bazaar that she isn’t a fan of actors taking to the stage on Broadway or to sing and dance in musical inspired movies. “I won’t tackle a musical,” she said. “I’m not a singer. People don’t want to see me in a musical. I hate them. Hate them. I do know my limits. I don’t always heed them, but I know them.” Earlier this year, Bullock joined the cast of football dramedy Blindside, about the rags to riches story of the NFL’s Michael Oher. Posted by Joanna

Sandra Bullock recently raved to Harper’s Bazaar that her husband loves to dote on her. “I’ve had to learn a hard lesson in that I’m not allowed to open car doors anymore,” Bullock, 44, said. “[Husband] Jesse [James] was like, ‘Just let me do this.’” And they say chivalry is dead! PEOPLE.com recently sat down with James, whose new show Jesse James Is a Dead Man premieres on Spike May 31, and got his take on being a gentleman. (Watch above) And James didn’t stop there. Sandra’s Post-Katrina Hall of Fame Honor

Sandra Bullock received a special honor from the students, faculty and friends of a New Orleans high school on Friday — and ET was there! ‘The Proposal’ star was inducted into the Warren Easton High School Hall of Fame, an honor presented by Arthur Hardy, the committee chairman. The Hollywood star did not actually attend the New Orleans school, but after Hurricane Katrina in 2005, she became actively involved with it, donating hundreds of thousands of dollars, including funds for its scholarship program, new band uniforms and for the renovation of the school auditorium. “Writing a check is easy when you’ve got it,” she says. “The people who do the work here are the ones that are amazing. The people that actually do the manual labor, that are here day to day fight for these kids, know these kids by name, know their families know their hardships are the ones that really deserve the accolades.” Sandra’s generosity drew attention to the school’s mission of public school education in post-Katrina New Orleans and generated much publicity for the school, which resulted in significant donations from around the country. Ryan Reynolds even got in on the excitement with a special message for his ‘Proposal’ co-star, and the two had an opportunity to see each other’s high school photos for fun! In theaters June 19, ‘The Proposal’ stars Sandra as a feared and demanding Big Apple boss who finds herself faced with deportation back to Canada when her visa application is denied. Enter Ryan, her miserable assistant, who she coerces into marrying her in order to gain U.S. citizenship. Forced with visiting Ryan’s family up in Alaska, will their ruse create suspicion, or sparks?

Sandra Bullock has hit out as reporters who insist on badgering stars about rumored pregnancies – insisting their prying questions are insensitive to infertile women. The 44-year-old actress became step-mother to husband Jesse James’ three children when the couple married in 2005, and she is outraged reporters won’t stop asking when they will have kids of their own. “I reamed out (scolded) this idiot girl at some premiere once about this. I had just been talking to a friend who couldn’t conceive, and I saw her pain. And this girl says, ‘Are you pregnant?’ I went off on her. What if I couldn’t have kids? Do you know what that would make me feel like? I just want people to admit that there’s no one way to live your life. Of course, I don’t know what’s going to happen.” Posted by Joanna

London, May 14 (PTI) ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine’ star Ryan Reynolds, who has bared all for his upcoming romantic comedy ‘The Proposal’, failed to impress co-star Sandra Bullock with his hunky body. “I’d put him at a four on a scale of one to 10,” said Bullock, who plays the role of a book editor in the film. Her character Maggie forces her assistant Andrew (Ryan Reynolds) to marry her in order to avoid being deported to Canada in the film. ‘The Proposal’, directed by Anne Fletcher, is slated to release in June this year. Here’s what the 44-year-old actress opened up about: On that rare, candid paparazzi shot of her and husband Jesse James dirt biking: “I panicked. We were in the desert, no place to pee. So I peed outside. [I thought] on the cover of the tabloids there’s going to be a picture of me peeing by a cactus. And yes, I did it. I’ll do it again.” On marriage to her husband, Jesse James: “I’ve had to learn a hard lesson in that I’m not allowed to open car doors anymore. It was so hard for me to allow someone to take care of me. It’s not because I can’t take care of myself. But Jesse was like, Just let me do this. On whether she’ll start a family of her own with Jesse James: “You don’t have to give birth to someone to have a family. I’m not going to spend two seconds of my life wishing I had something I don’t. It’s hard to do it your way when you hear everyone else telling you to do it their way. I just want people to admit that there’s no one way to live your life. Of course, I don’t know what’s going to happen. I could go home today and go, I haven’t started my period.” On having a recession-friendly fashion sense: “I’ve never really had ‘the closet,’ you know, like the Kimora Lee Simmons closet. I see that and I want the leopard carpet. I want the chaise. But if we learn anything from this economic collapse, it’s just work with what you’ve got.” On finding freedom in her 40’s: “I didn’t have a teenage or early-20s experience that was free and without worry. I missed the screw-everything, have-a-good-time phase. I was worried that if I didn’t stay on track and work, work, work, I was never going to accomplish anything.
