The release date for the forthcoming Stephen Daldry movie, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, starring Tom Hanks and Sandra Bullock has finally been confirmed. It is a little later than director Stephen Daldry had hoped and is due to be released on November 30, 2011.

Daldry had hoped to release the film in time to coincide with the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, due to the content of the film. However, it appears that Stephen is not going to be able to get the film completed in time, so a later date for the release has now been confirmed.

Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close is based on the novel by Jonathan Safran Foer. The story centres around a nine year old boy, who goes on a journey around New York, searching for the lock that joins with the key which was left to him by his father, who was killed in the 9/11 attacks.

Sandra Bullock joins Ricky Gervais’ Life’s Too Short

July 8th, 2011 | 1Comment

Ricky Gervais has lured Hollywood star Sandra Bullock across the Atlantic to join the filming of his latest film project Life’s Too Short.

The film, which has seen Gervais return to his regular writing partner Stephen Merchant, is a mockumentary is about dwarves and stars Willow actor Warwick Davis as well as comedian Keith Chegwin and Les Dennis.

Sandra Bullock was subject to a grilling by Gervais during the Golden Globes earlier this year when he joked that she once said to him that ‘poor people were gross and smelled bad’.

The actress isn’t the only Hollywood star to be rumoured to join the Life’s Too Short project, with Johnny Depp also believed to be involved in a cameo on the series.

The news of Bullock’s addition to the cast comes as Gervais celebrates a decade of The Office, the comedy show which saw him shoot to stardom as the character David Brent.

Ryan Reynolds wants to work with Sandra Bullock….again!

July 5th, 2011 | 3 Comments

Image8 Ryan Reynolds wants to work with Sandra Bullock....again!

The Green Lantern star Ryan Reynolds doesn’t believe a movie set can work well if the cast can’t get along and spend too much time trying to do better than one another.

He said, “It’s toxic on a set when you’re competitive with other actors. Whenever I’ve worked with another actor who’s been competitive, usually nine times out of ten it’s backfired on them, they’ve had a really unsatisfying experience. A film is so collaborative. It’s the sum of its parts.”
One person Ryan does enjoy working with is Sandra Bullock, and he would love the chance to reunite with his Proposal co-star in future.

He said, “My producing partner is incredibly close with Sandra, we all met up about 10 years ago and we’ve been good friends since. I never thought we’d do a film together but it worked out. Movies like that are so contingent on that chemistry, it’s a rare thing if you get it, so if I was going to do another romantic comedy I would hope it would be with Bullock.”

Robert Downey Jr exits ‘Gravity’

November 18th, 2010 | No Comments

Robert Downey Jr. has left the cast of Alfonso Cuaron’s sci-fi drama Gravity, says The Hollywood Reporter.

The Iron Man star’s departure is the latest setback for the Warner Bros project, which has struggled to find an actress to fill the lead role after Angelina Jolie and Natalie Portman turned it down.

Sandra Bullock is still in negotiations to star in Gravity, which centres on a female astronaut who must survive being stranded alone in space after her crew is wiped out by debris.

Downey Jr. was to have played a fellow astronaut who only figured briefly in the story, he is now eying 20th Century Fox’s ‘How To Talk To Girls’.

‘Sex And The City’ Scribe Bringing Meryl Streep, Oprah And Sandra Bullock Together In Comedy

October 22nd, 2010 | No Comments

c48d309abf92620e9078512ab4699200 Sex And The City Scribe Bringing Meryl Streep, Oprah And Sandra Bullock Together In ComedyAccording to legend, Meryl Streep, Oprah Winfrey, and Sandra Bullock are like the Coke and Pop Rocks of Hollywood—put them together, and the resulting surge of ladypower will be so explosive that it brings on a worldwide apocalypse. Dogs will meow! The entire western half of the continental U.S. will break off and fall into the ocean! Kanye will leave Twitter!

Well, be forewarned because Michael Patrick King—the writing, directing, and producing force behind “Sex and the City“—has it in his head to make a film starring all three of these grand dames of the entertainment industry, Deadline reports.

And they’ve agreed to do it! The end is near!

…Okay, but if by some chance it’s not near, the combination of two Oscar-winning actresses and one epic poobah of all things media will make for one hell of a movie. The film is described as taking place in the world of a Home Shopping-esque television network—a setting that’s certainly ripe for comedy. And from the sound of it, Michael has big plans to create an intelligent flick with well-developed female characters. You know, as opposed to the usual sappy, unoriginal schlock that’s marketed to female audiences. (“Bride Wars,” y’all. ‘Nuff said.) Not only that, the concept for the film was developed with these particular ladies in mind and landed their approval and participation pre-writing.

And with Oprah’s reputation for reading the fine print, that’s saying something.

With such big stars attached and the script still in development, production on the Cinematic Summit of Kick-Ass Women (not the official name, but it should be) won’t start until next summer at the earliest—but in the meantime, you can bet we’ll be bringing you updates.

Will the nuclear combo of Sandy, Oprah and Meryl cause the world to end? Or will it just make for an awesome movie?

MTV Movie Awards’ ‘Eclipse’ Clip, Sandra’s Kiss And Tom Felton’s Speech: It’s Crush Worthy Time!

June 11th, 2010 | No Comments

Before you step away from your computer to enjoy your weekend, check out our Friday Crush Worthy feature. Instead of just telling you about the pop stories you were crushing over the past week, now we’re showing you. So press play on the video below to see Hollywood Crush tackle the week’s past news and keep reading for more details on our juiciest headlines.

c1f91ed871dfad336b50679e21ed424a MTV Movie Awards Eclipse Clip, Sandras Kiss And Tom Feltons Speech: Its Crush Worthy Time!

This week on Hollywood Crush you guys couldn’t get enough of all the hot moments from the 2010 MTV Movie Awards. “New Moon” won a lot of awards, there was kisses galore (hey there, Sandra and Scarlett and, uh, Robert and Kristen) and there was some great looking fashion.

Not only did Kristen Stewart rock a funky little D&G look, but MTV News was on hand as “Jersey Shore” star Snooki went dress shopping. She really wanted something stunning — since she would be hosting the red carpet with our very own Sway — and, she delivered. We loved her little sparkly, white number.

Speaking of things that delivered, we loved what we saw in the “Eclipse” exclusive clip that made its debut at the awards show, even though some might argue Bella’s motorcycle high jinx were very un-Bella like. We are still watching it on loop, are you?

And finally, when Mark Wahlberg exited the Gibson Amphitheatre, MTV News was fortunately on hand to capture his apology to “Harry Potter” star Tom Felton, whose speech he interrupted. We forgive you Mark and so does Tom!

The Blindside #1

April 1st, 2010 | 8 Comments

“The Blind Side,” the film that landed Sandra Bullock her first best actress Oscar, was the country’s No. 1 home video seller and renter its first week in stores.

The drama about a homeless boy who becomes a football hero grossed $255.2 million in theaters and was nominated for best picture.

“Blind Side” sold through to U.S. consumers nearly 3 million units its first week in stores, according to Home Media Magazine market research estimates. “New Moon,” the second film in the “Twilight” saga, finished its second week in stores at No. 2 on both the Nielsen VideoScan First Alert sales chart and Home Media Magazine’s rental chart.

Demand for the Summit Entertainment release held strong. After debuting at No. 1 on the sales chart the previous week, “New Moon” still managed to sell 86% as many units as “Blind Side.” And the film’s rental activity slipped just 9% from the previous week, a drop so modest that the film remained at No. 2.

Sandra Leaves House To Visit Friend

April 1st, 2010 | 6 Comments

Sandra Bullock has been on the down low since the news of her cheating husband broke, but she finally left her El Lay home on Wednesday to visit a “dear family friend.”

The actress was at the home of Gabriel Brener, the head of the Brener International Group, LLC, a private investment firm in Beverly Hills.

“She’s not there on business,” said a friend. “They’ve been friends for decades. She spends a lot of time at his house.”

Sandra has vacationed with Brener and his family several times and they were there for her wedding to Jesse James in 2005.

Sandra Bullock Almost Didn’t Do The Blind Side!!

March 15th, 2010 | No Comments

Sandra Bullock has revealed that she nearly didn’t accept her role in The Blind Side.

Earlier this month, Bullock won the ‘Best Actress’ Oscar for her portrayal of Leigh Anne Tuohy in the movie.

However, she told The Times that director John Lee Hancock had to convince her to take on the part.

“It took John Lee Hancock nearly a year to persuade me to meet Leigh Anne, and even then I wasn’t sure I could do her justice,” she explained. “I also don’t think I could have done this role even five years ago, but yes, having a family of my own helped clarify the dynamics in my head.”

Bullock also joked that her film All About Steve, which earned her a Razzie for ‘Worst Actress’, will be viewed differently in the future.

“That film is going to be seen as a classic in ten years’ time,” she said. “You wait and see.”
