Ten stars out of five!!!!
I just got back. Don’t worry there is no spoiler here.
For the past 15 years or so, While You Were Sleeping was my absolute favourite movie and Lucy Moderatz was my favourite character. I never thought I would say this, but that may soon end. All About Steve may take over that coveted spot, and Mary Horowitz may become my favourite character.
How can anyone trash this movie? How can anyone not like it at least a little bit? I have not laughed so much at movie in years. And from the sounds of laughter, the decent sized audience must have felt the same way. Anyone who trashes this wonderful movie must be a miserable, bitter, old coot who never smiles.
Mary Horowitz stole my heart from the very beginning and Sandra Bullock was brilliant. While You Were Sleeping was the first movie I ever saw Sandy in, and she was instantly my favourite actor. And still is. If this had been my first Sandy movie, I would have had the same reaction. Instead, All About Steve has forever cemented her place in my heart.
This movie deserves to be as successful as The Proposal. Trashing it does it a great disservice by denying those who would take the criticism to heart a chance to enjoy this wonderful movie. And it denies the movie the respect and affection that it deserves.
Every aspect of this movie was flawless; writing, acting, producing, directing. Sandy Bullock should be proud.
I will not critique specifics of this movie as I don’t want to spoil anything for those who want to see it unfold before them.
Oh yeah. She LOOKED incredible despite the red boots.
Something I seldom do is go to the theater to see a movie more than once. Even a Sandy movie. I will likely go to this again.
Personally I liked Steve even more so that Proposal. I laughed more often (and harder) and really felt for (even identified with to some degree) Mary. With Sandy’s portrayal, she was not just some two dimensional quirky character. She had depth and was a real person. And how she won everyone over by the end was great. I love how she kept her spirits up throughout and was always true to herself. Although she had won me from the start. I do not understand where all the criticism came from. It as very funny, thoughtful, touching, and well acted.
My 1st time ever doing this. I really like her movies. Very disappointed that I missed “All About Steve” Now I can’t find it in my area – it just seems to have been disappeared. I don’t drive long distances as I am handicapped. I don’t like to rent as then there is the problem of returning & too expensive to purchase until they come down to $5 – $10 as I am a retired widow. Why did this movie disappear so quickly?!!!

Thank you so much for a feel good movie. You’ll will probably never know how much we need a movie like this. Less sex , violence, profanity and blood. This I can take my grandchildren to watch.
