“The Blind Side,” the film that landed Sandra Bullock her first best actress Oscar, was the country’s No. 1 home video seller and renter its first week in stores.
The drama about a homeless boy who becomes a football hero grossed $255.2 million in theaters and was nominated for best picture.
“Blind Side” sold through to U.S. consumers nearly 3 million units its first week in stores, according to Home Media Magazine market research estimates. “New Moon,” the second film in the “Twilight” saga, finished its second week in stores at No. 2 on both the Nielsen VideoScan First Alert sales chart and Home Media Magazine’s rental chart.
Demand for the Summit Entertainment release held strong. After debuting at No. 1 on the sales chart the previous week, “New Moon” still managed to sell 86% as many units as “Blind Side.” And the film’s rental activity slipped just 9% from the previous week, a drop so modest that the film remained at No. 2.

having met Sandra here in Austin once in 2000 (her former boyfriend is friends with my best friend), I have to say that I began to pay attention to her movies. She was very nice even though I accidentally stepped on her foot at the Saxon Pub that night. She didn’t have that “I’m a big star” thing going on at all which made me like her even more. She was just another person, out enjoying some good music. I don’t get to watch movies too much. I just finished watching the Blind Side but I can say is that the movie had this guy in tears a few times. I bought her performance hook, line and sinker. Outstanding work and one fine film.
All I have to say is Jesse, you really screwed the pooch on this one!
The “Blindside” is one of the best all-around movies that I have seen in a while. I wish that Hollywood would produce more of these type of movies. Sandra Bullock’s role is outstanding.
Sandra, I have been a fan, first time posting for you. Jonna, Come on, do you really think she needs to hear what you think about the blindside at this point and time in her life, let her be, let her get out and have a drink, and let her have a great day on Easter Sunday. I just have to say that I am so proud to see such a great actress and woman in Hollywood. Not only is Sandra Bullock a funny, kind, down-to-earth person, she’s an incredible actress without any fluff or falsities. I was floored when I saw her in “All About Steve”, she was in all aspects of the character, and it is a nice movie to watch. Not only does she perform extraodinarily well, she accepts an award attempting to nullify her hard work with patience, humour, grace, and humility. She’s a great role model for all of us. Of course, her part in “Blind Side” is perfect. For all the people out there looking into her personal life: if you have any respect for a nice and honest human being, please leave her alone. Stop posting blurbs and stop looking to put your own spin on her life. She deserves much more respect than that, and in my opinion, has earned it a thousand-fold.
I have always been a fan of Sandra bullock. However, After seeing ,The blind side, I want to say that her performance was a magnificent piece of art. I just want to see Thank you, and please carry on making such great movies.
